Roberta L. Scheideman, 83, of Scott City, Ks. died Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at her daughters residence in Overbrook, Ks. She was born on May 7, 1921 in Modoc, Ks., the daughter of Robert and Minnie May Luton Sturgeon. She spent most of her life in Scott County with her early residence in Modoc. She graduated from Scott City High School and attended San Mateo Junior College in San Mateo, California. She was a homemaker and took an active part on the family ranch. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Study Club and Circle. She was a charter member of the Order of Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron. She married Carl L. Scheideman on February 2, 1941 in San Mateo, California. He preceded her in death on January 12, 1998. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Hushaw, Ella May Hantla, and one brother, Henry Nelson Sturgeon. Survivors include four children, Robert C. Scheideman of Salem, Oregon, Jacquline Reid-Peterson of Overbrook, Ks., Kyle Scheideman and his wife, Sherri of Berryton, Ks., and Cynthia L. Scheideman-Miller and her husband, Dwight of Piedmont, Oklahoma, her grandchildren, Dannibeth Opitz and her husband, Dustin, Tammy Hoehn and her husband, Jon, Dakota Peterson, Cheyenne Peterson, Kama Miller, Moira Miller, Sachia Miller, Stacy Scheideman and his wife, Vanessa, Peggy Putthoff and her husband, Jeff, Scott Scheideman and Abigail Scheideman. Survivors also include 9 great-grandchildren,three sisters, Alta Eales of Hutchinson, Ks., Ruth Clark of San Mateo, California and Ester Mary LaPorte of San Lorenzo, California. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Scott City. Burial will follow in Scott City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Terry C.
