Roberta Rosemary Royston Shelor, 95, of Topeka passed away August 28, 2018 at Lexington Park.
She was born May 24, 1923 in Newton, Kansas to Benjamin Amos Royston and Ella Mary (Vogt) Royston. Hoyt and May Royston, her aunt and uncle, were very loved and a great part of Roberta's earlier years. She graduated from Newton High School and attended Wichita State and Kansas State University where she met her future husband.
Roberta was a devoted and loving wife and mother and dedicated her life to caring for her family. During World War II she worked at Beech Aircraft in Wichita, as a rivet inspector. She loved to golf and was a member and held various offices in Delta Delta Delta Sorority; PEO Chapter HG; and a member of DAR, the John Haupt Chapter.
Roberta and Claud were united in marriage on May 26, 1946 in Manhattan. Claud preceded her in death, February 28, 2008 after 61 years of marriage. Survivors include their children. Jerry Shelor, Claudia Shelor, both of Topeka, Tom (Pat) Shelor, Hot Springs, AR, Steve (Chris) Shelor, Spring Hill, KS; grandchildren, Darin Shelor, Rachel Shelor, Tyler Milligan, Cara Milligan, Brent (Minnie) Shelor, Emily (Dustin) Rimmey, Annie Shelor; great-grandchildren; Toby, Ainsley, Greer and Sloane; and sister, Carroll (Bob) Smalley, Newton, KS. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Debby Shelor; and siblings, Virginia, Lillian and Jack.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday September 8, 2018, at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 10, 2018, Mount Hope Cemetery.
