Roger H. Larson, 81, of Topeka, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, August 14, 2022. He was born September 3, 1940 in Topeka, the son of I.R. and Helen (Baughman) Larson.
Roger graduated from Topeka High School in 1958. He was stationed in Korea during his U.S. Army service. As a young man, he worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, traveling the rails in a weed spraying car. Roger later worked for Whelan's Lumber and then Sachs Floral. He worked for many years for the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center, retiring on disability in 1998 after suffering a brain aneurysm.
Roger was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed solving cryptograms and crossword puzzles, watching classic movies and play cards and dominoes with his friends. He had a great memory and could recite long poems and verses from memory.
Survivors include his siblings, Dr. Robert C. Larson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Linda Norris of Louisburg, Kansas, four nephews, five great nieces, a great nephew and many cousins and friends.
As per Roger's wishes, cremation has taken place and no memorial services are planned. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
