Roger F. Litton, 79, Topeka, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. Roger was born on March 8, 1933 in Hamilton, MO, the son of Virgil T., and Blanche (Treon) Litton. Roger grew up in Hamilton, graduating from Hamilton High School in 1951. He moved to Lawrence in 1951, living there before moving to Topeka in 1958. Roger joined the United States Army in 1953, serving during the Korean Conflict with the 71st Ordinance Battalion, 556 Ordinance Campaign. Roger received an Honorable Discharge in 1955. Roger married his sweetheart, Juanita Bradley on February 19, 1966 in Lyndon, KS. To this union came; a daughter Judy (Jim) Francis, son William "Bill" (Michelle) Litton, and Maurice Bradley, his brother-in-law he raised as a son, all of Topeka. Roger had worked for Sunflower Ammunition in Desoto, then many years with DuPont until his retirement in August of 1996. Roger was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Topeka. Roger is survived by; his wife Juanita of the home, their children, plus his grandchildren; Christopher and Emma Francis, and Jacob and Evan Litton. Roger is also survived by his sister, Mary Catherine Silvey, and his brother, Ross Litton, both of Hamilton, MO. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Boulevard, Topeka, KS, with burial to follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery & Mausoleum, Topeka. Mr. Litton will lay in repose after noon on Monday, November 26, with a visitation planned from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m., Monday evening at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave, Topeka.
