Roger W. Jackson, 61, Topeka, passed away Monday, December 9, 2013 at Midland Hospice House.
Roger was born December 23, 1951 in Marion, KS, the son of Max Sr. and Patricia (Potter) Jackson. He graduated from Marion High School in 1970 and Kansas State University in 1976 with degrees in Business and Finance.
He worked as a Loan Officer for American Savings from 1977-78, a Sales Agent for Executive Fund Life Insurance company from 1978-79, an Adjuster for Farmers Insurance Group from 1979-1987, and an Agent for Farmers Insurance Group from 1987 until he retired in March 2013.
He was an active member of Faith Community Church and Kaw Valley Cat Backers. Roger was an avid K-State fan and never missed a football or basketball game. Additionally, Roger was an expert snow skier and he enjoyed playing golf and coaching his children's sports teams. The relationships Roger developed with his family and friends were always his most prized possessions.
Roger married Sandy Anderson on January 3, 1976 in Marion. She survives. Other survivors include daughter, Stacy (Jon) Ehlers, Jefferson City, MO; son, Devin Jackson, Houston, TX; mother, Patricia Jackson, Yuba City, CA; brothers, Dr. Max Jackson, Jr., Reno, NV, George Jackson, Boise, ID; and sister, Helen Jackson-Nicholson, Yuba City, CA. He was preceded in death by his father; and grandparents, Guy and Martha Jackson and George "Percy" and Helen Potter.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at First Baptist Church, 3033 SW MacVicar Ave, with a luncheon to follow in the fellowship hall. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road.
