Ronald Alan Miller, 61, of Topeka, passed away May 26, 2015. He was born August 26, 1953, in Valparaiso, Indiana, the son of Raymond and Lucille (McCormick) Miller.
Ron was a 1973 graduate of LaCrosse High School in Indiana.
On April 26, 1982, in Lenora, Kansas, he married Shelley Born. She survives.
Ron enjoyed volunteering for the YMCA and Meals on Wheels and was a member of Faith Community Church. He was a 4-H dad and spent many hours at 4-H dog shows, horse shows, and fairs. Ron was a groom at Turf Paradise Race Track in Phoenix and Centennial Race Track in Denver, and like betting on his favorite horses. He was looking forward to seeing if there would be a Triple Crown this year. Ron was also a caretaker at the Topeka Roundup Club from 1989-1998.
Other survivors include daughter, Faye Miller; father, Raymond Miller; siblings, Rex Miller, Connie McMeans, and Cheryl Miller.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, Kansas 66610, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Ron will lie in state from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas State School for the Blind.
