Ronald A. Payne, 73, Berryton, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. Ronald was born on October 25, 1932 in Topeka, the son of Arthur W. and Bessie Fay Payne. He spent his youth in Topeka, and graduated from Topeka High School. Ronald served his country as a Corporal in the Army, and was stationed in Germany. After his tour of duty, he married Erma Herrmann on June 12, 1955 in Topeka. The couple remained in the Topeka area, making their home in Berryton. Ronald was a pressman at Adams Business Forms in Topeka where he retired. He belonged to Hope Lutheran Church, the Topeka Genealogical Society, and the V.F.W. He enjoyed woodworking, wood carving, and camping, but most of all, his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Erma of the home, Sons; John (Wilma), Berryton, Dan (Roberta), Mulvane, Keith (Nena), Berryton, and his daughter Teresa (Greg) Smith of Berryton. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Brian, Amy, Amber, Megan, Michelle, Lindsay, Wyatt, Kirsten, and Seanna, and a sister, Marlene F. Payne of Topeka. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, at Hope Lutheran Church in Topeka. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Berryton, with Ft. Riley Casualty Detail presenting military honors. Mr. Payne will lie in state after 12:00 noon, Thursday at Penwell-Gable Southeast Chapel with a family visitation from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening.
