Ronald A. "Ron" Stryker, 57, Topeka, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Midland Hospice House.
Ron was born October 29, 1950 in Marysville, the son of Floyd J. and Mary E. (Griswold) Stryker.
He graduated from Valley Heights High School in 1968 and Kansas State University in 1972 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Upon graduation, he worked for Hallmark Cards in the Industrial Engineering department. He started his career as an entrepreneur in the heating and air conditioning industry and acquired twelve related businesses, including, but not limited to Bob Satzler Heating & Cooling, the Randel Company, Pardee Electric, Dolizelik Electric, Blue Dot Services of Kansas and the present, Latta-Whitlow by Stryker.
He was a member of Junior Achievement, Topeka Active 20-30 Club, Community Addictive Treatment Center - Board of Directors, Central National Bank - Board of Directors, Coalition for Fair Competition, Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Board of Directors, National Federation Independent Business Kansas Leadership Council - President 1996-1997, Habitat for Humanity - Board of Directors, Boy Scouts of America, Air Conditioning Contractors of America, Mechanical Board of the City of Topeka, Kansas Plumbing, Heating, Cooling Contractors Association, Topeka Home Builders Association, Topeka Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Greater Topeka - Class of 1996, Topeka Independent Business Association - Board of Directors, and Topeka Baptist Church.
Ron married Gailia Schuchart on January 8, 1972 in Waterville. She survives. Other survivors include daughter, Jennifer Bowers and husband, Daniel, Lawrence; son, Jeffrey Stryker, Topeka; brother, Ross Stryker and wife, Mary, Lebanon, MO; mother, Mary Stryker, Topeka, and sister-in-law, Karen Stryker, Topeka. He was preceded in death by his father, and brother, Charles Stryker.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Topeka Bible Church, 1101 SW Mulvane. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Ron will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, after 2:00 p.m. today and visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
