Ronald J. Broxterman

January 20, 1943 — March 5, 2020

Ronald "Ron" John Broxterman, 77, of Topeka, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 5, 2020 at University of Kansas Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He was born January 20, 1943, in Corning, Kansas, the son of Albert Peter and Bernadine Frances (Ronnebaum) Broxterman and he was a graduate of Corning High School.

Ron married the love of his life, Elaine (Lehmkuhl) Broxterman on Jan 15, 1966 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca and recently celebrated their 54th anniversary. He was a loving and devoted father and super proud papa!

He was employed by the Topeka Fire Department for 25 years, retiring as Captain in 1994. He was also employed by General Printing/Graphic Promotions for over 25 years. He then moved to First Impressions for several years before working with St. Francis INE in Topeka.

As an active member of the Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council No.534 of Topeka, he volunteered at many of the church's activities including the jamboree, funeral dinners, Hearts of Fire and especially Hands of Hope.

Ron enjoyed flying after acquiring his pilot's license, woodworking, bowling, traveling, his Harley-Davidson motorcycles, driving fast cars, hunting with family, supporting K-State and ALL activities that included his grandchildren! He was a jack of all trades and master of many!

If you met him you knew RON LOVED LIFE! He shared his love and his infectious laughter with everyone. He was a man who never met a stranger and had a terrific sense of humor, loved a good joke and bad ones even more, had an abundance of patience and a kind heart. And probably most of all, he was never without his favorite four legged companion Rosie. His life's motto was "live fast, die young and have a good looking corpse". Two out of three isn't bad! We'll let you decide which two!

Ron is survived by his wife Elaine, son Brian (Holly) and grandchildren Bailey and Alex plus numerous nieces and nephews. He was also an honorary brother and uncle to many friends, neighbors and colleagues.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Theresa (Norbert) Heiman, Gladys (Virgil) Koerperich and his wife, Esther and one brother Donald (Helen) Broxterman.

A Knights of Columbus/Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2020 at Mother Teresa of Calcutta Church, 2014 NW 46th Street, Topeka, Kansas, 66618. The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 8:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the church. Cremation will follow the Mass.
