Ronald L. "Ron" Ohlsen, 78, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022. He was born April 1, 1944 in Riverside, California, the first born child of Lawrence and Edna (Banning) Ohlsen.
He graduated from Horton High School, and later served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Thailand where he worked on cryptography machines.
Ron spent most of his career as a self-employed dairy distributor, during which time, he also served as a foster parent, and became an ordained minister. After selling his business, he worked as a house parent in a group home in Topeka. Toward the end of his career, Ron enjoyed driving a school bus for USD 437.
Ron was most notably recognized for his love for children, irreplaceable sense of humor, and an orneriness preordained at birth. He loved people, and especially loved spending time with loved ones. He enjoyed fishing and camping, but was content to simply be outside mowing or sitting on a deck.
Ron married Diane Acs in Rapid City, South Dakota on January 16, 1967. They were married for 41 years, and divorced in 2008. Other survivors include children, Kimberly (Lee) Eaton of Auburn, Michael (Dawn Maack) Ohlsen of Shawnee, and Robin Burch of Tecumseh. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Zachary (Sara) Eaton, Jacob Eaton, Tyler Eaton, Jordyn Burch, Isabelle Ohlsen, Jace Burch, and Madeline Ohlsen, and two great grandchildren, Calvin Eaton and Miles Eaton.
He was later engaged to Linda Snook who survives with Ron's extended family including David Snook, Joseph Snook, Juliet Snook, and Justin Foster. They were together for 14 years.
Ron was preceded in death by his brother, David Ohlsen, and survived by his other siblings, Gerald Ohlsen and Vicki Drechsler, both of Topeka.
