Ronald Preston

Ronald "Ron" Preston, 78, of Topeka, passed away Monday, August 10, 2020.

He was born April 8, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Thomas M. Prendergast and Dorothy Rossberg. He was raised by his foster parents, Samuel and Elizabeth Preston. He was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School in Wyoming, Delaware and received a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Washburn University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Ron was a computer programmer for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, retiring in 2004.

He was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Topeka.

Ron married Sheryl on February 14, 1984 in Topeka Kansas. She survives in Topeka. Other survivors include five children, Ronald G. Preston of Saginaw, TX, Connie E. (Marty) Pierce of Dover, FL, Eric S. (Lesley) Preston of North Lake, TX, Christopher A. (Angela) Preston of Manhattan, KS and Kati C. (Brian) Whayne of Topeka; seven grandchildren, Colleen Preston, Brooke Preston, Adrianna Price, Nayomi White, Brishaun Whayne, Joshua Preston and Elias Whayne; and two half-sisters, Jacki Thompson of Norfolk, NE and Melody Ewer of Doylestown, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his foster parents; his grandson, Camilo Mustacchio; and his half-brother, Jeffrey Lachman.

Ron enjoyed spending time with family, sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and gadgets.

Cremation is planned. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave., Topeka. Inurnment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Grove, Kansas.
