Ronald Eugene Shuberg, a dedicated professional and a beloved family man, passed away peacefully on October 2 2024, in Topeka, Kansas, surrounded by his family. Born on September 25, 1935, in Salina, Kansas, Ronald’s life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his career and the people he cherished.
Ronald earned a Civil Engineering degree from Kansas State University, which laid the foundation for a long and impactful career at the Kansas Department of Transportation. He served as the Assistant Bureau Chief, contributing to the construction and maintenance that shaped the infrastructure of the state highway system. He was a man of few words but when he spoke action followed.
In his personal life, Ronald was known to have a straightforward approach to life. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, pursuits that brought him peace and happiness. As a young man, tennis was his sport of choice, showcasing his active lifestyle and love for competition. Ronald’s personality was marked by his clarity of thought—he believed in no gray areas, a principle that guided both his professional decisions and personal interactions.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Marjorie (Griest) Shuberg, and their son, Eric Shuberg. Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Carl Shuberg; mother, Emma (Gerlach) Shuberg; and sister, Marlene Gunnerson.
Ronald Eugene Shuberg will be remembered for his strong character, loving family ties, and commitment to his work. His legacy will endure through the lives he touched and the memories shared by those who loved him dearly.
Ronald chose cremation. Ronald’s visitation at 10 a.m. and memorial service to follow will be held on Wednesday, October 16th at the Countryside United Methodist Church (3221 SW Burlingame Rd, Topeka, KS 66611).
The family asks that in lieu of flowers Memorial Gifts be made to the music ministry of Countryside United Methodist Church.
