Rosemary Teresa (Hilgert) Massey, 70, of Topeka, Kansas passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022.
She was born June 24, 1951, in Saint Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of William and Mary (Wegenka) Hilgert.
Rosemary attended Mercy High School in Omaha, Nebraska. She furthered her education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Art History in 1973.
Rosemary worked as a Social Security Disability Examiner for the State of Kansas for approximately 20 years prior to retirement.
She married Michael Massey on April 7, 1977 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Survivors include her husband, Michael of Topeka; her step-son, Christopher Massey of Vancouver, WA; her daughter, Elizabeth Massey of Topeka, KS; her brothers, Michael (Valerie) Hilgert of Athens, TX, Phillip (Lynn) Hilgert of Kirkland, WA and John (Cara) Hilgert of Omaha, NE; her brother-in-law, Peter (Dave Ferguson) of Los Angeles, CA; her sister-in-law, Linda McMillen of Omaha, NE and five nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Rosemary had a great sense of humor and a deep interest in a wide range of topics. She read extensively, especially poetry and the history of British royalty. She also had a passion for caring for animals.
Honoring Rosemary's request cremation is planned. A Memorial Eucharist will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Grace Episcopal Cathedral, 701 SW 8th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66603. Rosemary will be inurned at Grace Cathedral's Columbarium.
