Ross J. Slagle, 91, Topeka, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014. He was born September 28, 1922 in Anderson, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Collis Henry and Grace Lola (Wilson) Slagle; brother, Victor and sister, Wilma.
Ross graduated from Anderson High School and entered the Army in 1942, serving in Italy and Austria. He then took up the plumbing trade and belonged to Local Union #763 and #441 for over 50 years.
Ross had a lifelong hobby of collecting anything with a motor and wheels, and he enjoyed every minute he spent working on them. Ross was interested in so many things, was a history buff, and could identify and work on any car or machine, the older the better. He always enjoyed a good visit when anyone had the time.
Ross is survived by nieces and nephews; Donald Slagle, John Pendergraft, Lola Collins and Peggy Snively all of MO and Lewis Slagle of Oregon.
Ross was a kind, loving and very patriotic man. He lost the love of his life, Elaine in 2010. Ross left behind his beloved farm in 2013 and moved to Topeka. Our family will miss him greatly.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 16th at Dove Cremation, 4020 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66606. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st Street, Topeka, KS 66604.
