Roy H. Palmer, 89, of Topeka, formerly of Killeen, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. He was born September 10, 1926, in Temple, Texas, the son of Prince and Mayme (Roy) Palmer.
Roy was raised in Temple, Texas and graduated from High School there. Roy served his country for 2 years in the U.S. Army and in the Army Reserves for an additional 6 years.
Roy was a barber by trade while living in Texas and California. He retired about 25 years ago, before moving to Topeka.
Roy married Arlene Patterson on April 8, 1971 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives of the home. Roy is also survived by his son, Roy H. Palmer, Jr.; daughters, Debbie Palmer and Johnnye K. Sweet; siblings, Sammy Hornsby, JoAnn Young and Louis Palmer; 2 grandchildren, Roy Palmer III and Daymie Dynes. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 siblings, Lloyd and Milton Palmer.
Roy enjoyed his large family and watching football.
A Graveside Committal will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, in Leavenworth, Kansas. A visitation will be held at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave. in Topeka where the family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 29th.
