Roy Lavell Dupler

October 8, 1931 — November 2, 2013

Roy Lavell Dupler, 82, of Topeka, Kansas passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013. He was born October 8, 1931 to Lawton and Lola Bevill Dupler in Cache, OK. He spent his childhood in Cache.

He married Nelda Jean Whitney 6/17/1951. During the early years of their marriage they lived in Oklahoma and Texas. In 1963 Roy, Jean and the children moved from Houston, TX to Topeka.

He worked for Hamm Construction as a crane operator for over 30 years, he retired in 1993. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 101.

Roy served in the US Army Artillery Division stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

He was a loving family man, who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening and being outdoors. Roy was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his homegrown vegetables with family, friends and local food banks.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; children: Vicki Looka, Kansas City, MO; Linda Dupler, Lake Dallas, TX; Terry Miller (Walter), Topeka, KS; Randy Dupler (Pam), Topeka, KS; Jana Deever (Greg), Topeka, KS; 12 grandchildren: Buffy Stewart (Lee), Topeka, KS; Kelly Gerhardt, Topeka, KS; Jeremy Mueller (Meagan), Mansfield, TX; Jason Mueller (Mariel), Dallas, TX; Wendy Deever, Topeka, KS; Joshua Looka, Topeka, KS; Greg Deever, Topeka, KS; Cassie Looka, Wichita, KS; Whitney Kreps (Danny), Lake Dallas, TX; Jayme Deever, Topeka, KS; Amie Dupler (Luke Deeter), Topeka, KS; Ethan Dupler, Topeka, KS; 18 great grandchildren; siblings: Robert Dupler (Loretta), Lawton, OK; Glen Dupler (Judy), Van Alstyne, TX; Betty Holloway, Royce City, TX; Daniel Dupler (Wanda), North Richland Hills, TX; David Dupler, Cache, OK; Pat Thomason (Ronnie Barker), Cache, OK; Dale Dupler, Cache OK; Judy Johnson, Ft Worth, TX; Nancy Roach (Jimmy Beeson), Cache, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Glenda Faye Dupler, brothers Carl Dupler and Jerry Dupler.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Roy will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
