Royce Dial, 73, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
He was born December 26, 1944 in Huntington, West Virginia, the son of Elijah A. and Thena M. (Williamson) Dial. Royce served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He worked in the press room at the Topeka Capital Journal for 38 years before retiring in 2003.
Royce married Margaret L. Swan in 1965. She preceded him in death on October 21, 1991. He later married Gladys Otalvaro on May 18, 1996. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter from his first marriage, Vicki Smith of Topeka; one granddaughter, Brianne Smith of Topeka; sisters, Sheila Staats of Hurst, Texas and Debbie Agee of Roanoke, Virginia.
Royce was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joan Mulford.
Royce loved to travel. He and his wife, Gladys visited many countries around the world. He enjoyed spending Christmas with his family of Colombia, South America. Royce never let his illness bring him down. He was an incredible and brave individual. He had the generosity of spirit that only comes from very special people. All who knew him will miss him. Royce lived a life full of love for family and friends.
A private family inurnment will take place at Topeka Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
