Russel "Russ" Dean Morris, 74, Berryton, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 11, 1939 in Holton, Kansas to James and Nellie (Teer) Morris. He graduated from Netawaka High School in 1957. He was employed at Heckerson Hachery in Holton until 1964 when he and his family relocated to Topeka. In Topeka, he owned and operated a Derby Filling Station for 15 years. Russ retired in 2009 from Payless Shoe Source, after 30 years of service.
On September 6, 1957, he married Florence May Huss of Circleville, Kansas in Havensville, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include their four daughters, Donna (Darrell) Garwood, Topeka; Sandy (Dennis) Hunsinger, Carbondale; June Morris, Topeka and Tammy Fiegener, Berryton; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Warren, Raymond, Jimmy, Evert, Lawrence and Lloyd and one sister, June Cavin. Russ will be greatly missed by the many who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 23 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow at Lynn Creek Cemetery.
