Russel F. Harrop, 73, of Berryton, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2005 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born on December 14, 1931 in Berryton, the son of Ross and Rachel Browning Harrop. He graduated from Overbrook High School. He was an Air Force Veteran. Mr. Harrop loved farming. He was employed by Bell Telephone Company in Pennsylvania. He returned to Kansas in 1977 and retired from Southwestern Bell in 1986. He was a member of the Berryton United Methodist Church and the Telephone Pioneers of America where he did a lot of volunteer work. He had a passion for athletic activities and participated in the Senior Olympics. He married Anna Balak on November 24, 1955 in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Rae A. Kychik of Topeka, Donna L. Muse of San Antonio, TX, Debra L. Harrop of Topeka, two sons, Russel F. Harrop, Jr. of Berryton, Stephen R. Harrop of Topeka and eleven grandchildren. He was anticipating the birth of his first great-grandchild. He is also survived by five brothers and four sisters. Cremation took place. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Private inurnment will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
