Russell Lynn Bishop of Oskaloosa, Kansas, also known as "Uncle Russell" passed away September 3, 2015 at Colmery O'Neil VAMC, Topeka, Kansas. Russell was born to Everett and Barbara (Jeffries) Bishop on January 27, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from Viola High School in Viola, Kansas in 1960. Russell joined the US Air Force in 1961 and served his country honorably until 1964. Following his military service, he attended Wichita State University to earn his art degree in 1970.

Russell married Janis Cunningham on March 17, 1982 at Baxter Springs, Kansas. As a tattoo artist he founded his business, Skin Illustrations in 1993 with locations in Lawrence, Overland Park and Junction City, Kansas. He was a member of American Legion Post 225 and the American Legion Riders of Ozawkie.

Russell is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janis; sons: Christopher Bishop of San Tan Valley, AZ and Monty Venable of Haslet, TX; daughter Wendy Wolf of Polo, MO; 7 grandchildren: Kylie and Cameron Bishop, Jenna Venable, Trysten, Arianna, Olivia and Benjamin Wolf; and his sister Robin Bishop of Maple Shade, NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sandra Wildey, and his brother Rex Bishop.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 225, Ozawkie, Kansas. Inurnment will be at a later date at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
