Russell E. "Russ" Neilson, 59, of Netawaka, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022. He was born March 23, 1963 in Kinsley, Kansas, the son of Ronald Raymond and Rosetta Ann (Miller) Neilson.
Russ graduated from Kinsley High School and attended Southwest Kansas Area Vo-Tech. He worked in the Auto Body Restoration field and later for the USD 337 Royal Valley School District.
Russ married Rita Ann Kitch on September 8, 1984 in Kinsley, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include children; Jennifer L. (Jon) Renfro of Onaga, Kansas, Marsha R. (Jaime) Arredondo of Holton, Kansas, Shandra D. Gonzales of Wetmore, Kansas and John T.A. Moore of Blue Earth, Minnesota, thirteen grandchildren; Jordan, Cole, Madisyn, Whitney, Sophia, Armando, Hailey, Samuel, Rylan, Alexis, Darius, Emma and Thomas, two great-grandchildren; Zoey and Hazel, many children and grandchildren bonded by the heart, and his siblings; Raymond Neilson of Punta Gorda, Florida, Rhonda Snyder of Lewis, Kansas, Roxann McReynolds of Kinsley, Kansas , Richard Neilson of Kinsley, Kansas and Robin Neilson of Kinsley, Kansas.
Russ was preceded in death by his parents, his sister; Rosalie R. Neilson, his maternal grandparents; Florence and Melvin Miller and his paternal grandmother; Yula Williams.
A Celebration of Russell's will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Edwards County 4-H Building, 1305 S. Niles Ave., Kinsley, Kansas 67547. Private inurnment will take place in Kinsley Cemetery, Kinsley, Kansas at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Royal Valley Athletics Department, 101 E. 1st St., Hoyt, Kansas 66440.
Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
