Ruth A. Smith, 86, Berryton, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012.
Ruth was born July 2, 1926 in Royal Oak Township, Oakland, Michigan, the daughter of B. Orville and Agnes (McDiffitt) MacArthur. She graduated from Alta Vista High School in 1944.
She was a member of the Topeka Moose Lodge, Monmouth Township Election Board, and the Overbrook United Methodist Church.
Ruth married Virgil Smith, Jr., on August 5, 1948 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include son, Steven R. (Peggy) Smith, Overbrook; daughters, Joyce S. (Roger) Spencer, Alta Vista, Vicki R. (Keith) Linder, Topeka; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Mary Hopkins, Topeka, Bruce MacArthur, Topeka, and John MacArthur, Vassar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Overbrook United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Overbrook United Methodist Church, 1005 N. Maple Street, Overbrook, KS 66524 or Grace Hospice, 3715 SW 29th, Ste 100, Topeka, KS 66614.
