Ruth Jean Laverne Hall, 83, of Topeka, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 7, 2012. She was born to Charles and Hilda Griffin on June 1, 1928 in Junction City, Kansas.
She was united in marriage to the late Isaiah B. Hall in December, 1950. She moved to Topeka in 1958, where she held several clerical positions throughout her life. She retired in 1985 due to illness. Ruth remained active in many church activities including Sunday School. She absolutely loved traveling out of town for church services. She was an active member of Eastside C.O.G.I.C. until God called her home.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 2 sons, and 1 daughter. Those left to cherish her great teachings and loving memory are 3 sons, Lloyd Hall of Nebraska, Bruce Hall of Colorado, Vet (Alvester) Hall of Topeka, 4 daughters, Sharon Hill of Michigan, Regina Hall of Topeka who was her caretaker and best friend, Venita Simpson of Nebraska, Delores "De De" Hall of Wichita, 27 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, friends, family and many who knew her as "Mama Ruth".
Services will be held at Noon Friday at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 S.E. Washington St., Topeka, Kansas 66607. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Ruth will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
