Mary Ruth Keeton Botts, Ruth, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 23 2009, after years of battling Alzheimer's disease.
Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Ruth was the seventh of eight children.
Ruth was the proud mother/mother-in-law of Robert H. Botts, Jr. of Plano, Texas and his wife JoAnn; Ruth Ann Schwart of Topeka and her husband Don; Harry Thomas Botts of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and Jo Rene Longoria of Houston, Texas and her husband Ernest.
Ruth took great delight in her grandchildren—Michael Schwart and Angela Wetzel and her husband Keith of Topeka; Brandon and Brett Botts and Carnie Carpenter and her husband Scott of Plano, Texas; James and John Botts and Emily Frey and her husband Tim of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Bethany, and Allison Wetzel of Topeka; Colton Frey of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and Colby and Caroline Carpenter of Plano, Texas. She is also survived by her sister Madie Richter of Houston, Texas.
Robert Henry Botts, her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, preceded Ruth in death, as did her parents: Harry Keeton and Joe L. Keeton; brothers: Ben-O Keeton, Harry Keeton, Frank Keeton, Woodrow Keeton; sisters: Rachel Hill and Martha Terrill; and a grandson Lance Robert Schwart.
Bob and Ruth Botts lived in Wichita, Kansas for thirty-nine years and were members of Immanuel Baptist Church where Ruth sang in the choir over the years.
There will be a celebration of Ruth's life on Saturday, August 29, at 1:00 PM at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 Wanamaker Road, Topeka, KS 66610, 785-272-9797. Ruth will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 PM on Thursday.
