Ruth Mae Patterson, 78, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at her son and daughter-in- laws home after a long illness. She was born on January 17, 1927, in Razor, TX, the daughter of Andrew and Lucille Bailey Beaver. Mrs. Patterson was raised in Texas, where she attended public school. She married in Texas, and moved to Topeka in 1953. Mrs. Patterson was a homemaker and loving mother. In her later years, she was an active volunteer with Let's Help in Topeka, and with day care organizations. Mrs. Patterson attended Mt. Asbury United Methodist Church and First Church of God In Christ Church.
Survivors include four sons; Marshall (Ruth Ann) Patterson, Wildfield, CO, Floyd Patterson, Paul (Lisa) Patterson, Richard (Brenda) Patterson, all of Topeka; daughters, Patsy (Bennie) Young, Mary (Steve) Winn, both of Topeka. Four brothers; Vernice (Carrie Mae) Beaver, Ardmore, OK, Vance Beaver, Oakland CA, William Beaver, and Joe (Carol) Beaver of Topeka, Sisters; Ruby J. (William) McChristion, Topeka, Winfred (John), Fowlers, OH, and Irene Nicholas-Evans, of MD. Survivors also include seventeen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters; Dottie Patterson, and Helen Patterson., and a sister Luree J. Love.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at First Church of God in Christ Church, 614 California. Burial will follow at Topeka Cemetery. Mrs. Patterson will lie in state at Penwell-Gable Southeast Chapel after Noon on Monday, with visitation Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Lets Help, Inc., 200 South Kansas Ave, Topeka, 66603, or to the Salvation Army, 2905 SW Topeka Blvd, Topeka, 66611
