Rachel Ruth Roberts, 90, Topeka, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017.
She was born July 1, 1926 in Polo, Missouri, the daughter of Lyman and Eva (Ure) Bathgate. She attended Yankee Ridge Elementary School and graduated from Polo High School in 1944. She graduated from Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri.
Ruth married Donald E. Roberts of Chillicothe, Missouri on October 13, 1945. To this union were born, Donald Larry (Diana, deceased) Roberts, Kansas City, Missouri, Sandra Lee (Neill) Patterson, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Richard Russell (Tina) Roberts, Topeka, Kansas and Janis Sue (Brent) Sharpe, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Jason (Sarah) Roberts, Jennifer Roberts, Justin Roberts, Preston (Ashley) Sharpe, Kaitlin Sharpe, Spencer (Amber) Sharpe, Hayley (Grant) Williams and seven great-grandchildren, Jacob Roberts, Morgan Roberts, Kemper Roberts, Kennedy Roberts, Kinley Roberts, Logan Roberts and Lucy Sharpe.
She was an active member of Crestview United Methodist Church and for many years, Topeka Women's Golf Association. She was an Honorary Member of Arab Shrine Antique Car Unit. Ruth was an Amateur Ham Radio Operator.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7 at Crestview United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crestview United Methodist Church, 2245 SW Eveningside Dr., Topeka, KS, 66614.
