Sam Mann

Sam Mann, 77, of Topeka, passed away at home Sunday, February 19, 2023, surrounded by his wife and kids.

He was born June 13, 1945, in Goodland, Kansas, the son of Harden and Josephine (Krug) Mann. He graduated from Edson High School in 1963 where he played football and basketball and was constantly up to mischief.

Sam married Nancy Wiederkehr on January 1, 1990 in Topeka, Kansas, where they joined their families, having three kids that were and are their pride and joy.

Sam spent his life working hard as a welder and carpenter, passing along his skills to his son and grandsons. He was constantly tinkering and working on projects in his garage and at the farm. After he retired you could often see him tinkering with his John Deere lawn mower, which he would drive around the neighborhood - saying hi to the neighborhood kids and/or passing out popsicles in the summer. Sam would spend hours on his RC airplanes, convincing others to go out and fly planes in fields around the state of Kansas.

Sam spent most of his time with his grandchildren and for all who knew him he was incredibly proud of each one of them and the happiness they brought to his life.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; children, Brandy (Mark) Rosel, Raqual (Blake) Carlson and Tyler Mann; grandchildren, Carter Mann, Colton Mann, Vayda Carlson, Charlotte Royer and Callan Royer; brother, Terry (Judy) Mann; sister, Patty (Tom) Koehler and mother-in-law, Jeanette Widerkehr.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Lloyd Wiederkehr.

Honoring Sam's request, cremation is planned and no services have been scheduled at this time. Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS 66610 is assisting the family.
