Santos Jimenez Ortiz, Jr., 59, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Midland Hospice Care in Topeka.
He was born July 29, 1957 in Del Rio, Texas, the son of Santos and Ofelia (Jimenez) Ortiz.
Santos was employed by Payless Shoesource as a computer service technician. Computers and technology were an important part of his life and he was always ready to help anyone with a computer problem.
He loved animals and also enjoyed fishing, family camping trips, traveling and especially golf. He was known for his ability as an auto mechanic.
The Boy Scouts of America were an important part of his life for many years with his sons. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers/KC Royals fan. As fond as he was of sports, his greatest passion was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Santos married Joanne Cobuluis on May 14, 2005 in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Ray Ramirez (Christy) of Haltom City, Texas; step-son Jonathan Stevenson, Step-daughter, Danielle Stevenson and step-son, Jacob Stevenson, all of Topeka and three grandchildren, Damien-Ray, Sarai and Gabriel Ramirez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Alfred, Joe and Sammy Ortiz and three sisters, Sara, Geneva and Mary Jane Ortiz.
Mr. Ortiz will lie in state after 4:00 p.m., Friday, September 16, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 S.E. Minnesota Ave., Topeka, KS 66605 where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. that evening.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the funeral home and private inurnment will take place at a later date.
