Sarah Lou Hayes

Sarah Lou Hayes, 70, of Topeka, was taken home to Heaven on September 17, 2014. She was born November 16, 1943 in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of William and May Meyers, who preceded her in death.

Sarah was married to Loren L. Smith Sr. He preceded her in death in 1979. Sarah had three children. A son, Loren L. Smith Jr. also preceded her in death. Sarah is survived by her sons, Shawn L. Smith and Shane L. Smith; grandchildren, Trey Smith, Travis Smith, Heather Smith, Bryce Smith, Lance Smith; and three great-grandchildren.

Sarah was a devoted mother and grandmother. She retired from Stormont-Vail Medical Center in 2010. Sarah enjoyed K.U. basketball, garage sales, and spending time with her family.

Per her wishes, Sarah was cremated. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 26th at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave. in Topeka.
