Sgt. Jamie D. Jarboe, 27, Topeka, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at St. Francis Health Center.
Jamie was born April 27, 1984 in Ft. Bragg, NC, the son of Andrew and Joy (Shoemaker) Jarboe. He graduated from Frankfort Senior High School in Frankfort, IN in 2003.
He joined the Indiana Army National Guard in 2005. He volunteered to go to Iraq in 2005 and served a 9 month tour. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2007 and again was deployed to Iraq, serving a 15 month tour of duty. He was assigned to Operation Enduring Freedom in February 2011 and deployed to Afghanistan. Jamie was wounded by a sniper on April 10, 2011. He underwent over 100 surgeries at numerous hospitals. He was transferred to St. Francis Health Center on February 17, 2012.
Jamie married Melissa D. Clark on February 14, 2011 in Frankfort, IN. She survives. Other survivors include daughters, Celesteal and Alexa; son, Aaron Cole; father, Andrew (Vikki) Jarboe, Frankfort, IN; mother, Joy Shoemaker, Kirklin, IN; brothers, Andrew Rowe, Michael Rowe, both of Frankfort, IN; and grandmother, Patty Reed, Kirklin, IN.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Sunflower Ball Room at Capitol Plaza Hotel, 1717 SW Topeka Blvd,Topeka. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Jamie will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road after noon on Friday, March 30, 2012, and visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
