Sharon Y. Hazelton, 73, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at a Topeka hospital. She was born December 11, 1943 in Grey, Oklahoma, the daughter of Earl and Doris (Cox) Goodhart.
Sharon has resided in Topeka for the past 21 years. She owned and operated Sharon's Day Care. She was a member of the Shawnee Heights Baptist Church.
Sharon married Timothy L. Hazelton on July 22, 1983 in Liberal, Kansas. He survives. Other survivors include children, Charles Phillips, Jr. of Bakersfield, CA, Shennen Phillips of Topeka, Shanea Gardner of Amarillo, TX, two step-children, Chris Hazelton of Wake Forrest, NC and Stephanie Hazelton of Factoryville, PA, five grandchildren, four great-grandsons and three sisters, Beverley Eckstrom of Lincoln, AR, Mickey McBee of Edmond, OK and Marlene Taylor of Bentonville, AR and many nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by one infant son, Curtis Lynn Phillips, two brothers, Jackie Swink and Earl "Buddy" Goodhart, Jr. and one sister, Hope Elaine Swink.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2017 at Shawnee Heights Baptist Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Shawnee Heights Baptist Church, 4335 SE 29th St., Topeka, Kansas 66605.
