Sharon Kathleen Mathes, born on December 27, 1953, of Boulder, Colorado, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024, in Topeka, Kansas, surrounded by her loving family. Sharon dedicated 33 years of her professional life as an employee of the State of Kansas.
She held a Master’s Degree in Accounting from Washburn University and was a Certified Public Accountant for the State of Kansas. Her dedication extended beyond her work, as she was a devoted mother and grandmother, always prioritizing her family. Sharon cherished moments spent with her grandchildren, nurturing their education and creating lasting memories together.
In her leisure time, Sharon enjoyed traveling and capturing beautiful images through photography. She was also fond of playing Scrabble, participating in Jazzercise, and journaling; activities that brought her joy throughout her life. She enjoyed visiting Vala's Pumpkin Patch with her children and grand children. She never knew a stranger.
Sharon leaves behind her sister Luzanne Vance and her beloved children: Danielle Elhabbal (Mathes) and her sons Sam, Noah, Harrison, Gabriel, Charlie, and Eli; daughters Maddie, Emma, and Lottie, along with her grandchildren Eleanore, Callahan, Shepard, Clark, Austen, Isaiah, Amelia;
Stacie (Dreher) Creech (Torres) and their sons Beaujacub and Hunter, and granddaughters Adelene and Audrianna;
Kalee Jo Hardy (Mathes) and her son William, along with her daughters McKenzie and McKenna.
She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Lee Mathes, her parents Elmer and Bobbye Jo Curnutte, and her siblings Steven Curnutte and Carol Merten. Sharon’s legacy of love and dedication will be forever remembered by those who knew her.
