Sharon Kay (Wilson) Nurnberg, 79, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024.
She was born October 6, 1944, in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Roy and Myrna (Lope) Wilson. She was a graduate of Lamont High School.
Sharon and her husband were the owners of New Fred's Restaurant. She was the grill cook and took care of the weekly specials. Sharon enjoyed cooking and dancing.
Sharon married Robert Eugene “Gene” Nurnberg on June 8, 1980 in Emporia, Kansas. He preceded him in death on April 18, 2019. Survivors include four step-children, four children, Rosalie Nurnberg, Topeka, Richard Nurnberg, Topeka, Arlene (William) Moran, Holden, MO and Debbie (Mike) Zeller, Topeka; granddaughter, Crystal Frederiksen; and three great-grandchildren, Destyne, Faith and DaeBrionna; and two sisters, Judy Sturgeon of Osborne, KS and Nancy Pendleton of Centennial, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Markus Scott Smith-Nurnberg on October 2, 1993.
Honoring her request, cremation is planned.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 27, 2024 at the Grandview Cemetery, 1500 Road A, Emporia, Kansas. A reception will follow the graveside service.
