Sharran K. Johnson

Sharran (Covey) Johnson died peacefully in her sleep at home surrounded by her loving family on April 29th, 2017 in Topeka, KS at the age of 75.

Sharran is survived by her husband of 57 years, David; children, Scott Johnson (Jenny), Mitchell Johnson (Janet), Heidi Johnson, Kristi Michaelson (Rick); siblings, Judy Waner, Glenda Cook, Jackie Richardson, Raymond King, Johnny King (deceased); grandchildren Ashley, Amanda (Rusty), Elijah, Alta, Sierra, Brynn and Makynna; and great-grandchildren Emmy, Kennedie and Sydnie.

Sharran was born on July 18th 1941 in Topeka, Kansas to Carl John and Loris Covey. She moved to Marion, Kansas and graduated from Marion High School in 1959. She received her Certificate in Cosmetology from Stewart Beauty Academy in December 1959. She married David Johnson in 1960. The couple welcomed 4 children into their home and Sharran stayed home raising her family until the children were in school. Sharran began working for the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) in 1977 until her retirement in 2005.

Sharran enjoyed floral design and won a National amateur floral design contest. She also enjoyed sewing, crafts, cooking and genealogy. She was an active and dedicated member of Christ Lutheran Church and often volunteered her time with LWML.

A funeral is scheduled for 10AM on Thursday May 4th at Christ Lutheran Church in Topeka, Kansas with a visitation being held there from 6 – 8PM on Wednesday May 3rd. Pastors Ross and Schemm will officiate at the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sharran's life.
