Shawndy wrote poetry. The following was written by her in 2004.
CHRIST IN YOUTH CONFERENCE
A GIRL CAME HERE WONDERING WHY, THE ONLY WAY SHE CAN FALL ASLEEP IS TO CRY…
THINKING OF WAYS TO FIX HER LIFE, THE PAST SOLUTION IS TO CUT HERSELF WITH A KNIFE.
BLAMES EVERYONE BUT HERSELF FOR EVERYTHING,
NOT THINKING HOW MUCH HAPPINESS GOD COULD BRING,
ALL SHE COULD DO IS PUT ALL HER HATRED TOWARDS HIM.
WHY WAS HER ANSWERS TO EVERY QUESTION NOT NOTICED?
CLINCHING HER HANDS INTO FISTS, SHE CAME HERE THINKING IT WAS A WASTE OF TIME, JUST TRYING TO MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY.
BUT WHAT SHE DIDN'T KNOW WAS SHE'D FIND *SALVATION*!
SHE COVERED HER EYES AND BROKE DOWN INSIDE, SHE LOST ALL OF HER INDEPENDENT PRIDE.
SHE GAINED FAITH AND HAD TO REJOICE, LOOKED DEEP DOWN INSIDE AND HEARD HIS VOICE.
HE SPOKE TO HER IN ONLY WAYS SHE COULD UNDERSTAND, TOLD HER TO GRAB HIS HAND.
"I'LL HELP YOU STAND!"
SHE BELIEVED HIM, AND WITH THAT SHE DEVOTED HER MIND, BODY AND SOUL.
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HER LIFE SHE FELT COMPLETE AND WHOLE!!!
