Sheila Kay Jones

Sheila Kay Jones, 89, of Topeka, passed away Monday, December 30, 2024.

She was born October 8, 1935, in Council Grove, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Lois (Abel) Schrader. She was a 1953 graduate of Highland Park High School.

Sheila was employed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Topeka for many years until retiring.

She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Topeka where she was active in the Owls. 

Sheila married Ralph Jones on November 1, 1968 in Topeka, Kansas. They recently celebrated 56 years of marriage until his passing on November 4, 2024. Survivors include her son, Mike (Linda) Shaver; her step-daughter Holly (Mike) Diegel; her step-son, Stephen Lee Jones; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a great great-grandson. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Jack and Ronald Schrader. 

Sheila loved spending time with her family and caring for hummingbirds. She enjoyed quilting, crafts, sewing, gardening, canning, camping, 

The family will receive friends from Noon, Friday, January 3, 2025 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 4211 NW Topeka Blvd, Topeka, KS, where a funeral ceremony will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the church.
