Sherryl Lee Saffle Moody, 70, of Topeka, passed away June 6, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. She always had a ready smile and a quick hello despite her ongoing battle with cancer. Her kindness and love towards her family showed through even when she was in the hospital and ordered her dinner with a sherbet for her grandson to enjoy a desert with her.
Sherryl was born April 1, 1946, the oldest daughter of Dwayne and Peggy Saffle. She had fond memories of visiting her grandparents on the farm. This upbringing leads to her love of all animals. She had a huge heart to feed and take care of any animals she came in contact with including squirrels and birds. She enjoyed putting birdseed into the bird houses and watching the birds fly onto the bird house to eat the birdseed. Through her lifetime she cared for many cats, dogs, birds, and even the occasional squirrel.
Sherryl had 5 children that she raised with a loving heart. She took two trips to California to help raise her grandson for a short time. She was preceded in death by her oldest son Robert Moody, who passed away too soon when he was only 19 years old. The second oldest was her daughter Karrie Moody, which gave her a lively 16 year old grandson Bryce Moody. Her son David Moody married Emily. David and Emily Moody gave Sherryl her second grandchild Elyse Moody, which unfortunately she never had the chance to see before she passed away. Sherryl lived with her fourth child Melody Moody, which was extremely helpful during her battle with cancer and all the appointments she had to go to. The youngest child Sherryl raised was James Moody who is married to Carrie Moody. Sherryl passed her love of animals onto her children as most of her children have animals that they lovingly take care of as well.
Sherryl will be great missed by her friends and family. The funeral service will take place Friday, June 10, 2016 at 1:00PM at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service Chapel in Topeka, KS. The burial service will be at Burlingame City Cemetery at 2:30PM. Sherryl is being buried at the Burlingame City Cemetery to be near her oldest son Robert Moody, who is buried there as well.
