Shirley Annette Ard, 84, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024.
She was born May 29, 1939, in Austin, Minnesota, the daughter of Kermit and Doris (Wilford) White. She was a graduate of Austin High School, Austin, MN.
Shirley was employed by the state of California for the governor, later for Salt River Project and retired in 2000 from the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
She was a member Jehovah Witnesses of Topeka, KS.
Shirley married Walter Davis Ard in 1980 in Mesa, AZ. He preceded her in death in 2013. Survivors include her children, Steven M. (Pam) Gritchen of Albuquerque, NM, Dianne L. Gritchen of Topeka and Robert J. (Alisha) Davis of Portland, OR; her grandchildren, Steven M. (Jess) Gritchen, Jr., Alison Gritchen and Austen Gritchen; three great-grandchildren; and her brother, Darrell White of Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Marilyn Geller.
Shirley loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and preaching Jehovah's good word. She enjoyed traveling, art, painting, making fractals and computer art.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS.
