Shirley Rae Birks, 77, Topeka, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014.
She was born March 11, 1937, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Lloyd and Ruth (Wadsworth) Langston. She graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1955.
She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church.
Shirley married Benny Birks on May 9, 1959 at First Lutheran Church in Topeka. They later divorced in 1987.
Survivors include two daughters, Theresa (Joe) Heitz, Olathe and Alesia Benge, Topeka; three brothers, Lloyd "Bud" (Rita) Langston, Topeka; Larry (Sandy) Langston, Ozawkie and Michael (Patti) Langston, Topeka; five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Memorial services will be 3 pm, Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Inurnment will be held at a later date. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
