Shirley Falk, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away at her home in Harveyville surrounded by family on December 3, 2024, at the age of 88. Born in Ozawkie, Kansas on October 24, 1936, Shirley was known for her generous spirit and unwavering love for her family.
Throughout her life, Shirley embodied the values of hard work and care for others. She was particularly proud of her family, finding the greatest joy in giving and spending time with her grandchildren. Christmas was her favorite holiday, a time when she would shower her loved ones with affection and thoughtful gifts. Easter, too, held a special place in her heart as she created joyful memories with her grand children, ensuring that they felt the magic of the season even after they learned the truth about the Easter Bunny.
Shirley enjoyed gardening, and she took great pride in tending to her colorful blooms, which reflected her nurturing nature. She also had a talent for sewing and could often be found playing the piano, bringing music into her home. Always good-humored and caring, she made sure that things went far beyond their expected purpose, demonstrating a frugal yet generous approach to life. She was known for making dishes from scratch, including her baked goods which were often a highlight at family gatherings.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Cliff) Smith; her son, Brian Falk; her sister, Sharon Berner; her grandchildren, Brooke Falk, Garrett Falk, and Lauren Falk; as well as her great-grandchild, Matthew Marden.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Warren Falk, her father, William Rise; her mother, Vera Rise; her brother, William Rise Jr.; her sister, Catherine Kufahl; and her daughter-in-law, Mona Falk.
Shirley’s legacy of love, kindness, and family devotion will be forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her impact on her family and friends is immeasurable, and she leaves behind a profound sense of affection in every heart she touched.
