Shirley June Price, 82, of Topeka, left this earth to be at home with her heavenly Father, Wednesday, February 1, 2012. She was born March 2, 1929 in Hays, Kansas to Peter P. and Erna (Mayer) Loewen. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband John T.W. Price of 55 years.
Survivors include, daughter Gail L. Scott and husband Michael, son John P. Price and wife Jan, son Thomas J. Price and wife Christi and son Kenneth J. Price and wife Shirley B., all of Topeka. Other survivors include 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a sister, Arlene Borders of Carrollton, MO, her family and numerous other relatives.
She moved to Topeka in 1946 and graduated from Topeka High School. She married John T.W. Price on March 2, 1948 in Topeka, and together they raised 4 children. She worked for a short time as a civilian in the US Air Force and Eisenhower Middle school cafeteria, but most of her time was spent at home with her family. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and served along with her husband for The Gideon Ministry.
She will always be remembered as a great Christian role model for her family. She loved her Lord with all of her heart and when her body and mind started to fail she wanted nothing more than to be with her Lord in heaven.
Following her wishes, Shirley will be cremated. A visitation will be held at First Southern Baptist church on Tuesday February 7, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00PM with a memorial service to follow at 7:00PM in the sanctuary. This will be a celebration of her life. Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideon ministry, through First Southern Baptist Church.
