Shirley Joyce Terrill

Shirley Joyce Terrill, 82, Topeka, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Midland Hospice House surrounded by her family.

Shirley was born September 13, 1934 in Ottawa, the daughter of Wilsey Phil and Letha May (Womble) McCracken. She graduated from Ottawa High School.

She was trained in Medical Records at Stormont-Vail Hospital and established the Medical Records system at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa.

She was a member of the Junior League of Topeka where she chaired the Next to New Sale, the Shawnee Country Club Board of Directors where she was the first female board member and the L.E.G.S. golf group at Shawnee Country Club.

Shirley loved to golf and travel and enjoyed this with her many friends. Shirley's main love was her family. She enjoyed watching and encouraging her grandchildren in their many activities.

Shirley married Joseph Terrill on September 6, 1953. Her husband of 64 years survives. Other survivors include daughters, Jennifer (Dave) Harpster, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Stromgren, all of Topeka; grandchildren, Whitney (Kyle) Smith, Jacob Harpster, Adin (Matthew) Selzer, Emily (Josh) Davis; great-grandchildren, Sloane and Cannon Smith; brother, Larry (Kay) McCracken, Overland Park, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Beverly Hughes.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Private family inurnment will be at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Shirley Terrill Memorial Golf Scholarship for Girls, c/o Core First Bank and Trust Topeka.
