Sidney H. "Pete" Goodwin, 87, Topeka, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013.
Pete was born October 24, 1926 in Afton, TX to Andy and Sarah Goodwin. He finished High School at Jayton, TX and served in the U.S. Navy from August 16, 1944 to October 24, 1947. He returned to duty during the Korean conflict and was discharged in 1952.
On June 3, 1952 he married Gwendolyn Driggers in Spur, TX and they moved to Amarillo, TX where he was employed by Santa Fe Railway in the Accounting department. In August of 1961 he was transferred to Emporia as a Traveling Auditor. He moved to Topeka in August of 1965 as Assistant Director of Freight Accounts. He retired from Santa Fe in 1986 as Auditor of Freight and Passenger Accounts.
He was a member of Lowman United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years; daughters, Catherine Goodwin, Shawnee, KS, Barbara (Billy) Caswell, Holden, MO; grandchildren, Stephanie Tew, James Tew, Max Barraclough, Sawyer Stone; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Genesis, Dayton, and Thomas; and niece, Diane Seymore. He was preceded in death by a sister, Phauline Timm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Mount Hope Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
