Stanley E. Black, 75, of Topeka, went home to be with his Lord on July 29 at a local hospital.
He was born November 6, 1929 in Shreveport, LA., the son of Henry G. and Florence Fisher Black.
He served his country as a member of the Air Force for forty years, retiring as a master sergeant in 1971. He then went to work for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. After leaving Goodyear, he went to work for the Veterans Workforce Development Department for the State of Kansas.
Survivors include a daughter, Yan T. Black of Topeka; a son, Michael T. Black of Houston, TX; grandson Adrien P. Black, Houston; granddaughter Atiya D. Black, Los Angeles,CA; granddaughter Traci D. Patton, Las Vegas, NV; granddaughter Nicole L. Patton, Las Vegas, NV; granddaughter Targon A. Black, Topeka; great grandsons Caleb A. Black and Jadon H. Black of Houston; great granddaughter Jordyn A. Black of Houston and a brother, Leonard Williams of Lake Charles. LA.
Mr. Black will lie in state after 3:00 pm, Wednesday, August 3 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm that evening. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with burial to follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens..
