Stanley James Hassett, 35, Berryton, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2006. He was born Sept. 19, 1970 in Topeka, the son of John "Jack" Hassett, and Sharon (Phillips) Hassett.
Stan grew up in Berryton and attended schools in Shawnee Heights, graduating from Shawnee Heights High School in 1989. He attended Emporia State College, Washburn University, and a Community College in Springs, TX.
Stan had worked as a plumber, and most recently as a pressman for Southwest Publishing in Topeka. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and landscaping.
Surviving are his parents; Jack and Sharon Hassett, Berryton, Grandmothers: Eulalia Hassett and Wanda Phillips both of Topeka, Aunts: Sandra (Chuck) Worden, Norton, Linda (David) Joss, Topeka, Connie (Dennis) Warnock, Spring, TX, and Eileen Hassett, Topeka. Also surviving are numerous cousins.
Stan was preceded in death by his brother Jeff Hassett, Grandfather, John Hassett, Uncle Jim Hassett, and Grandfather, Neal Phillips.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Topeka. Stan will lie in state after 12:00 Noon, Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel until 5:00 p.m., and then at St. Matthew's Catholic Church Tuesday evening, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m., and family will receive friends at 7:00 p.m. that evening.
