Stephen Roger Sills born on January 22, 1946 to Alberta Sills and Kenneth E. Hopkins, Sr., departed this life on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at his home.
Stephen was raised in Kansas City, Kansas by his mother. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1965.
He served in the US Army from 1967-69 during the Viet Nam Conflict. He returned home holding the rank of Sergeant and received numerous metals, including the bronze star and purple heart. He had a great passion for music. He was a member of the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas and Post 1650 of the VFW.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha; son, Stephen R. Sills, Jr; daughter, Perivica Kennedy; sister, Anita Newson; 4 grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service Tuesday, October 5, 2010. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service. Burial will be at 2:30 pm Tuesday, at Leavenworth National Cemetery with full military honors.
