Steven Douglas Allen, Sr.

Steven Douglas Allen, Sr., 45, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2011 at a Topeka hospital. He was born February 12, 1966 in Independence, KS, the son of Robert M. Lenon, who preceded him in death and Hazel A. Allen, who survives.

Steven resided in Topeka for most of his life. He was employed by U.S.D. 501 as a paraprofessional for several years. Steven later obtained a C.D.L. license and was employed as a truck driver. A passion of his was assisting the developmentally disabled and worked for various agencies in Kansas. He was a member of the Apostolic Church of Topeka.

Steven had a long relationship with Carolina E. King and from that relationship was born his son, Steven D. Allen, Jr. and Stephanie Allen. Stephanie preceded him in death in 1986. Steven married Heidi Anderson on December 6, 1995. She survives. From this union was born his daughter, Allenea Allen and his adopted daughter, Sadie Allen and his grandson, Cordae Steffon Allen. Also surviving are his grandmothers, Alreta Allen and Mary Owens, his siblings, Valiore, Teresa, Joe, Rita, Floyd, Percy, Dustin, Annetta and Kaye. Also surviving, are a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at The Apostolic Church of Topeka. Steven will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Steven Douglas Allen Memorial Fund c/o Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave., Topeka, KS 66605.
