Steven Roger Horton

Steven Roger "Hooter" Horton, 69, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 surrounded by his family.

He was born December 7, 1948, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Ernest Steven and Margaret Ursula Alexander (Todd) Horton. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Steven worked for many years doing construction and later worked for the State of Kansas and the City of Topeka Water Department as an electrician, retiring in 2015.

Mr. Horton was a proud member of Wakarusa Lodge No. 402 AF & AM and AFSCME Union.

Hooter married Michele Clarice Centlivre on September 23, 1978 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Megan Horton and her fiancé and Allison Horton, and her husband, Kenneth Hines; four grandchildren, Kristopher Horton, Caleb Horton, Tobias Horton and Kennedy Hines, all of Topeka; a brother, Robert Horton, and his wife, Nancy of Topeka; and a sister, Gillian Horton, Cypress, Europe.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Hooter loved fishing, hunting, and spending time at the cabin, aka "Hoots Fishing Hole". He absolutely loved being a grandpa to his four grandchildren. He was a hard-working, loving, humorous husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

Honoring Steven's request, cremation is planned. No services are planned. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel in Topeka is assisting the family.
