Steven D. Rison

September 25, 1954 — January 2, 2022

Steven Dale Rison died on January 2, 2022.

Steve (Badmoon if you're a cowboy) loved telling jokes, making goofy faces at babies, bierocks, going for long drives, and Christmas. Not particularly in that order. He hated cucumbers (puke 'em uppers), uncomfortable silences, and round-a-bouts. He was a handy man who could fix anything and always had a project in the works. He believed if you take care of the things in your life - they will last. He felt the same about his relationships with friends and family.

When it came to selling auto parts, Steve was one of the best in the business. He loved doing it. He specialized in finding his customers what they needed and delivering donuts to boot. In his younger years, Steve and his brother, Rog, raced in motocross and banged up the competition in demolition derbies. They didn't just bash up cars, they also improved them. Together they repaired countless cars in their Mobil Station in Sabetha, Kansas.

Steve and his brother, Jerry, took their families on many "Rison Adventures". Over the years they saw much of the country together. Steve never let a holiday go by without a visit with his baby sister Kathy. Marshal Matt Dillon, Tom Selleck, and Clint Eastwood were his Hollywood heroes. And he was the hero for his grandson, Gavin, who joined him on Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) shoots. They were "Badmoon Rison" and "Opossum Paul", a pair to be reckoned with when it came to shooting competitions. Their trophy cabinet is darned impressive.

When Steve rode off into the sunset, he left behind his wife and partner in crime, Sandy (Bernhardt) Rison. His son Brandon (Martie) Rison and grandson, Gavin Breedlove. His brothers, Jerry (Pam) Rison and Roger (Liz) Rison, and his sister Kathy (Mark) Munsterman. He also left a countless number of friends and fans behind to swap stories and share his jokes.

In Steve's memory, donations may be made to the Butterfield Gulch Gang SASS Chapter, PO Box 484, Solomon, KS 67480.
