Stuart D. "Stu" Jones, 52, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022.
He was born May 24, 1970, in Parsons, Kansas, the son of Darrell L. and Candace M. (Denney) Jones.
Stuart was a 1989 graduate of Topeka West High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Pittsburg State University in 1996.
Stuart taught Special Education for many years in Andover and Topeka. He later became an Assistant Technology Specialist at Independence, Inc. In 2015 he was hired by the University of Kansas as the Coordinator of two statewide ATK programs – The Telecommunications Access Program and the Kansas Equipment Reuse Program known as KEE.
Stuart was a previous member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Stuart married Cynthia L. Jones on July 10, 1999 at Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia of Topeka; daughter, Ashley Jones of Topeka; sons, Kaleb (Misha) Jones of Topeka and Kolby (Kylie) Jones of Maple Hill, KS; grandchildren, Gracie Casada, Elora Jones and Cyrus Jones; sisters, Shannon (Wayne) Reel, Amy Engstrom and Deana Jones-Lucken and family friend, Pam (Dennis) Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Stuart enjoyed fishing, working on his property, fixing up junk and making it look like a diamond, laughing and making jokes. He loved being outside camping, tearing up the hillside to get just a little better view, riding motorcycles, four wheelers or that damn tractor. Stuart loved coaching wrestling and liked watching the Chiefs when they played. Grilling was one of his strengths when it came to cooking and he sure did love to fry fish. He loved his music, rocking out with his most recent band, playing the guitar, piano, and singing. He even loved his karaoke nights. In the end, the greatest thing Stuart loved to do was to be with his family and friends, spending that quality time we all loved and we will miss him.
A Celebration of Stuart's Life will be held 11:00 am Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Dove Cremation and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS 66610. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time. Interment will follow at Dover Cemetery, Dover, KS.
